1: Temperature rise monitoring

Overheating of the transformer is one of the key causes of the fault. Improper cable head installation will cause the operating temperature of the switch to be too high, accelerate the aging of the insulation material, and cause insulation accidents in serious cases.

Each CRT is equipped with a temperature indicator, with three sensors in LV windings. PT100 sensors are used for detecting maximum temperature of winding. Temperature indicator protects the transformer by output alarm or trip signal. 

2. Overload capability

Varelen's dry type transformer can be overloaded up to 40% with a corresponding increase in impedance voltage and load losses providing that additional cooling fans are installed. Short-time overloads makes no difference to transformer as long as the maximum winding temperatures are not exceeded (depending on initial load and ambient temperature)

 

3. Fire safety
